Auxiliary Aids

Auxiliary is an adjective describing something that provides additional help. The terms auxiliary aid and auxiliary service describe communication tools or assistance offered to someone with a sensory disability, such as hearing loss. A sensory disability is sometimes also called a communications disability.

Auxiliary aids and service examples for hearing loss: assistive listening systems, Communication Access Real-Time Captioning (CART), closed captioning, open captioning, personal hearing amplifiers, telephone handset amplifiers, telephones that are compatible with hearing aids, etc.
