The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1990 prohibits discrimination on the basis of disability by public and private entities.

The ADA does not allow entities to pass along the costs for aids or services to individuals with disabilities. Surcharges are prohibited. The entity is responsible for paying for any auxiliary aids or services, or accommodations and modifications to services, programs, and activities.
