Assistive Listening System

A category of systems, which are used to improve the clarity of speech for people with hearing loss in situations when it might be difficult or impossible to hear otherwise. Assistive Listening Systems (ALS) can be used by people without hearing aids, with hearing aids, with cochlear implants, and with bone-anchored devices.

4 assistive listening systems are ADA Compliant: FM/RF, hard-wired, hearing loop, and infrared.

Not all assistive listening systems utilize Automatic Gain Control (AGC), which gives a higher quality output for people with hearing loss.
